Finding Gold
In this mystical place with sawdust for glitter and sun shining down on the crowds, all atwitter.
There soon comes to life, a man in a tree, and a Big Foot who looks like he’s running quite free.
A bird, a frog, a man with a dog, look too real to be carved from an ugly ol’ log.
But the magic is…one really can’t say, what will come from the saws and the dust on this day.
A warrior’s face tightens like she’s looking for gold. She’s sure she can find it. It has to be sold.
Soon, out pops a talon, a leg, and a wing. It’s quite an incredible vision, this thing.
But the wood warrior knows at the end of the day, one will not see this bird on display.
It’s too graceful, too fine, too alive, too much might. His head points
toward heaven, where he’ll surely take flight.
After years in the business and some personal encounters, these warriors know a bear when they carve one. Their tireless and aesthetic style of sculpting has convinced many to seek them out to witness their creations unfold as the wood chunks fly.
